Are You Ready to Tackle the Next Big Project?

The world is changing every day. It’s getting more complex and more challenging. Even if you are not a project manager – you are managing projects every day. Some may be small projects; others may have a great impact on your business. And the successful conclusion of those projects helps the business to:

  • Increase profitability
  • Better meet the customer’s needs
  • Enable for faster time-to-market with new products and services
  • Improve the ability to compete in an increasingly global marketplace
  • Meet long term strategic goals
  • Get more done in less time

Every individual benefits from understanding how to manage projects regardless of their role within the business. Let me give you two examples, within the past 8 – 10 months two clients in particular have rolled out to their staff project management workshops.

For one client, a national technology services firm, we delivered multiple courses tailored for very junior individuals who need to manage projects as part of their regular job through to more senior level individuals who needed to understand how to improve alignment of projects to the company’s strategic plan.

For another client, a global pharmaceutical company, we delivered a course to all employees on how to use project management processes to better get their work done.

We are now moving forward with measuring the success of the training offered at the technology services firm by comparing how work was done in the past (without having a formal project management plan and processes in place) to how work is being done now. We are expecting to see improvements in time-to-market for new services and in increased client satisfaction.

For the global pharmaceutical company, they are already seeing improvements in how projects are being accomplished and are getting terrific feedback from employees who are more confident and comfortable in working on a variety of projects in which they are tasked.

We are increasingly seeing an interest in companies – from very small non-profits and startups to much larger global organizations – understanding how to utilize project management to tackle their next project.

You don’t have to be a project manager in order to manage projects effectively. We all work on projects every day. Having processes and training in place enables employees to better perform their roles within the organization.

What are you doing to provide your employees the skills, knowledge, tools and processes they need to manage their projects? Are you enabling them to get their work done in order to help the organization meet its strategic goals? Please share with others in the Comments field below.
