Evaluating Virtual Team Meetings
Evaluating the effectiveness of your virtual team meetings is essential to ensure that:
- Team members felt that they were able to effective contribute to the virtual meeting
- The team felt comfortable and confident with any decisions made during the virtual meeting
- The objectives were accomplished to team members’ satisfaction
Use any of the following methods to evaluate virtual team meetings:
- A round robin technique (ask each individual in turn) at the end of the meeting; asking each team member or other participant to give their thoughts on the meeting and how effective and efficient it was in accomplishing the goals.
- A written evaluation sent via email or using a survey tool immediately after the virtual meeting to ask participants about:
- The effectiveness of the meeting overall
- The pace of the meeting to accomplish goals
- The agenda for the meeting (well planned, made sense, etc.)
- Whether participation was enabled
- Whether the purpose of the meeting was clear
- If progress was made toward meeting the goals/objectives of the meeting
- Whether ground rules were followed
While you may not evaluate every single virtual team meeting, certainly in the very beginning of your project it is a good idea to do so to be sure that the meetings are being run effectively for the participants.
