How One Company Successfully Moved From Setting a Vision to Implementing that Vision
Read Part I and Part II of this article for background information. In part 3 we’ll focus on next steps – action planning – based on the discussions generated and decisions made at the off-site meeting.
Great discussions and conversations were had during the off-site and the participants were engaged and excited about the opportunities ahead. The next and final question then was, How do we move forward with implementing what was decided upon in the session?
We had the group break into three separate groups:
Group One: Focused on rolling out the selection and prioritization criteria for selection of projects.
Group Two: Focused on determining the project selection committee membership and developing the project proposal form, along with a plan for rollout.
Group Three: Focused on determining resources needed for projects, as well as communicating to the organization as a whole the decisions made at the off-site meeting.
The following was decided upon by each group and consensus was achieved in accepting each group’s next step’s/action plan recommendation:

Two members of the group were selected to be responsible for follow up and ensuring action plan items were produced/developed as per agreed upon due dates.
As a final wrap up, a quick evaluation of the off-site was done. Attendees felt the time spent was valuable in finally moving forward with resolving an issue that has been discussed for a number of years with no significant progress. It was felt that, while the group involved in the off-site was very large, it did not seem to impact the productivity of the group and actually enabled for a broader perspective overall and a better end product.
