It’s that time of year – spring cleaning! We often associate spring cleaning as being related to the home, but don’t forget about the workplace!
What kind of spring cleaning might occur in your organization? Here are just a few things to consider:
- Review current processes for opportunities to improve efficiencies in how the work gets done.
- Evaluate current role descriptions and responsibilities to update them based on what employees are actually doing in their roles.
- Evaluate current training programs. What needs to be refreshed? What additional skills are needed to support the organization’s growth and continued development of employees?
- Evaluate your employee handbook. Does it need updating? What is no longer valid? What new policies and processes should be included?
- Clean up files – paper-based and electronic.
- Have an office/workspace “clean-up” day! Take an afternoon, bring in pizza, and have everyone spend a few hours cleaning up their workspace. Have recycling bins and bins for sensitive documents handy.
These are just a handful of ways to add some “spring cleaning” to your organization.
