Your Role as a Coach

Do These 3 Things

Your role as a coach is to accomplish three things:

  • Regularly meet one-on-one with employees; collaborate with each employee to set professional development goals and developing action plans to achieve those goals. Help them secure challenging projects that enable for developing their skills.
  • Enable your employees to learn for themselves. Help them learn how to solve problems, resolve conflicts, develop their critical thinking skills, and overall think through how to get work done in the best way possible. Provide a variety of opportunities for learning and help employees to address barriers they encounter.
  • Regularly provide feedback on performance toward achieving the goals so that employees know how well they are doing and where they need to continue to improve.

What can you add to this list of responsibilities of the coaching role?
